Researcher receives award from Putin – NU.nl

A certificate speaks Russian President Vladimir Putin personally recognition for the work of Reiding.

“It’s always nice to receive a token of appreciation, especially of the head of state of the greatest country world, ” Reiding said. He has been working for seventeen years on behalf of Stichting Ereveld to figure out the identity of war dead. These are Soviet soldiers buried on the Russian Field of Honour in Leusden.

On the field are 865 war casualties, mostly from the former Soviet Union. 198 victims of the foundation has overtaken the identity and contacted the relatives. Reiding hopes the recognition of Putin’s support yields from the Netherlands and Russia for the project.

The award was presented by the Russian Ambassador to the Netherlands Roman Kolodkin.
