It was received with skepticism: Sola Road, the first renewable solar cycle world in Krommenie. Will that work? Is it effective? Yes, it turns out the answer.
The proceeds from Sola Road is even above expectations high, reports the Province of Noord-Holland in a press release.
In November last year The solar cycle was officially opened. It captures sunlight and converts it into electricity, which the path is illuminated again.
Many foreign media in recent months about the discovery message. That happened with skepticism. The solar panels would, even though they were covered with a layer special glass, polluted by a thick layer of mud, ice or snow, making the effectiveness would decrease substantially. The panels were also too little focus on the sun

That SolaRoad works so well even the people behind the project itself did not expect. “We did not think the bike so soon would yield much. The cycle was opened six months ago and has more than 3,000 kWh generated,” says Sten de Wit, spokesman Sola Road. That’s enough to provide a single-person household for a year of electricity.
“If we translate this into an annual yield, then we go above 70 kWh per m2 per year which we predicted as the upper limit in the laboratory stage. We can speak of a successful first half.”
SolaRoad has a pilot phase of three years which are carried out various measurements and tests.
