The public prosecutor of the Belgian Mechelen Microsoft subsidiary for Skype sued. The Internet calling service would have a request for interception denied because it was not in his own words is governed by Belgian Telecom

.

It is a case from 2012 in which the Belgian police two suspects investigated in the Armenian environment. They would just use Skype to talk to each other because calls through this service are not eavesdrop. During the talks, among other things, to supply of stolen goods. Writes the Belgian newspaper De Standaard.

The drain request was rejected because Skype would not fall under the Belgian telecom. The bell service itself does not look like namely telecommunications provider. Additionally, it would technically be impossible to eavesdrop on Skype conversations.

The first argument goes Mechelen prosecutor in any case against it. Being a VoIP service operates in Belgium, the company would do fall under Belgian law. In addition, both defendants have Belgian nationality and they were both in the country at the time of the call.

The court must now decide who is right. However, the chances are that it operates in favor of the prosecutor.
