Whatsapp has 800 million users – Overclockers

WhatsApp has 800 million active users. So says the founder of the chat service on Facebook. It took only four months before another 100 million users also joined WhatsApp.

This is according to Koum active users. These are the people who at least once a month use Whatsapp. The number of registered persons is not counted. If that were done, says Koum, the number of users had been even higher.

Active Users

The number of active users is growing rapidly. In April last year were 500 million people already use Whatsapp. Four months later, there were 600 million. In those four months, there were 100 million active users added. In January 2015 there were 100 million users back in.

WhatsApp – now serving 800 million monthly active users. Reminder for the press out there: active and registered users are not the samething:)

1 billion

What is striking is that it takes about four months before there are 100 million new Whatsapp users are. If this was going on, there would be six years after the establishment of Whatsapp inc., At the end of the year about 1 billion users Whatsapp.

Competition

Whatsapp state in terms of number of users far above rival Telegram. Telegram had about 50 million users in December 2014 although it was only 16 months now. Although Telegram gaining popularity, it can not challenge the growth of IM giant Whatsapp.

WhatsApp added lately also many extra features such as the ability to call or chat from your PC.
