Runaway beaten capsule does change plans ISS – Het Nieuwsblad

Because of the failure of sending the unmanned Progress capsule toward the International Space Station (ISS), threatens postponement or cancellation of a May 6 planned job increase ISS.

Russian flight controllers at the Russian space agency Wednesday were all lost contact with the unmanned capsule, making the Progress uncontrolled floating through space. Meanwhile, it is clear that the cargo spacecraft will certainly not get to ISS and therefore will not be able to link to the space station.

The orbit of the space station must be periodically boosted because the complex, including through the attraction of the earth, gradually drops. But the planned job increase of 6 May will be, as the Progress capsule will not get to the ISS does not occur.

For some connections or disconnections of the ISS orbit change planned on 14 May. Whether this will continue, it is not yet clear.
