The US space company SpaceX there yesterday managed to launch the Dragon capsule with more than 1,800 pounds of supplies for the crew of the International Space Station. The Dragon must moor Friday at the ISS.
The aerospace company of billionaire Elon Musk hoped the first stage of the launch vehicle that the capsule was launched to allow vertical landing on a platform at sea, so that could be re-used, but failed. “It landed on the pontoon, but so hard that he is dead,” says CEO Elon Musk on Twitter.
The Falcon 9 rocket departed as scheduled at 16.10 hours local time in Cape Canaveral, Florida. Monday the launch was postponed due to the bad weather conditions.
On board the capsule is a lot of scientific equipment, but also a special espresso machine.
