The Italian eyewear company Luxottica is working with Google on a new product. That the CEO of Luxottica, Massimo Vian, said at a meeting of shareholders of the company in Milan, writes The Wall Street Journal. Vian according to the new product would quickly come to market, but he gave no specific details.
Luxottica, manufacturer Ray-Ban and Oakley, has been working since May last year with Google. The news once again points out that Google Glass has not yet been put in the fridge. The glasses, which was unveiled in 2012, had an eventful history. Privacy advocates have strongly criticized the built-in camera, early users of the glasses were nicknamed “Glass Holes.”
In January, Google announced that it would remove the current version of the spectacles of the market. The development of future versions was entrusted to Tony Fadell, the co-founder of Nest, a company that took over Google in February 2014. Fadell previously worked at Apple, where he first iPod development oversaw the hardware.
The discontinuation of the sale of Glass led to speculation that the end of the glasses was near, but Google -chairman Eric Schmidt showed in March yet know that the project was still alive and well. “It is a grand and fundamental platform for Google”, so said he at that time.
