Google announced in June last year that would bring Android apps to its Chromebooks and Chrome browser. In September, an initial load apps, but now the company has a Chrome extension is made available which can bring all developers their Android apps to the browser.

The extension was baptized ARC Welder, where ARC stands for Android Runtime for Chrome. This piece of software allows you to run a Androidapp on computers with Chrome OS or the Chrome browser on Windows, OS X, and various Linux distributions.

Because ARC provides support for Google Play Services, many Android Apps also almost normal work on the desktop. However, applications that use certain APIs for hardware like the camera or sensors in a smartphone, will only have limited functionality. ARC may use the CPU and GPU of a system.

ARC Welder requires Chrome 40 or higher and is currently still in testing phase. The extension is aimed primarily at developers who want to place their Android Apps in the Chrome Web Store, as well as ordinary user, you can convert an app to an extension, provided you have the apk file.
