Smartphone has supplanted the PC – Telegraaf.nl

Dutch thirteen years and older use the smartphone for the first time more than the PC to go online. Last year it was 57 percent, while 52 percent of the personal computer used for surfing. Especially young people between 13 and 34 years are devoted to the smartphone

According to a study that the Dutch organizations radio, print and television research NLO, NOM and SKO have delivered. They have the media use among households and individuals charted for the fourth time.

The smartphone for years with the rise as a means to access the Internet. In 2011, only 27 percent of people used the smartphone or mobile phone to go online. The laptop last year was the most used for the Internet (65 percent).

Dutch were found last year an average of two hours a day on the internet. For young people between 13 and 24 years was not enough: they had an average of three hours a day online. In 2013, the average surfing time under Dutch still amounted to one hour and 53 minutes a day.

In our country used now almost 91 percent of the thirteen people over the internet. Converted these are 12.8 million people. The biggest growth came from the over-65s. In this age group is 66.4 percent of people online. A year earlier it was still 61.2 percent.

The research also shows that more people use a digital platform to read a newspaper. About one in five do sometimes use a mobile phone, smartphone or tablet
