Vodafone offers customers free Napster subscription – NU.nl

That makes the company on Monday announced.

Napster Unlimited is a music streaming service like Spotify, where users can pay monthly for unlimited ad-free music to listen to.

Napster as streaming service arose from the online music PressPlay, which was renamed in 2003 to Napster when the then owner acquired the trademark thereof. The brand was re-launched in 2006 as a music streaming service.

Napster remains best known for the eponymous P2P program that allows users the late ’90s and early 2000 could download music from each computer.

The company was almost immediately after the launch of the program being sued by the music industry. That lawsuit marked the end of Napster in 2001.

The paid service Napster Unlimited is available as an app available on iOS, Android and Windows Phone, and also has a desktop version for Windows and Mac.
