Jawbone ‘first man’ discovered in Ethiopia – NU.nl

This was reported by the BBC on Wednesday.

The piece of jawbone is 2.8 million years old and thus older than 400,000 years it was believed that the first man was created.

The head of the group of scientists Professor Brian Villmoare says that the discovery gives insight into the most important transition in human evolution.

Villmoare declares that there is a clear link between this discovery and that of the famous fossil “Lucy”, an adult female of the species Australopithecus afarensis that approximately 3.2 million lived years ago.

It was a 3.2 million year old metatarsal that is also found in Ethiopia. The shape of the bone indicates that the ancestors of humans had foot cavities.
