NPO receives 25,000 euro fine for bad cookie policy – Overclockers

The Dutch Public Broadcasting (NPO) to pay a fine of 25,000 euros because it is far too late cookie policy adapted. Therefore visitors would not have known that they were followed by tracking cookies.

This reports the Authority Consumer & amp; Market. NPO already warned in July that they set cookies without informing the user about that. Meanwhile, the NPO do, but it took too long before the warning was shown yet.

Penalty

Early November was therefore a penalty of 25,000 euros imposed if the NPO would not change its policy.

 Websites need since 2012 notify users that they place cookies on the computer of visitors. If they do not, you risk a fine websites. The Authority Consumer & amp; Market monitors there, but says to check only government websites because they have “a role model.”
