On request, Google has removed 15,000 results in the Netherlands and 228,000 in Europe in the past year. This occasion of the right to ‘forget’ to be set up by the European Court of Justice.
Google has seen more than 690,000 European URLs, following a request from citizens to be “forgotten”. In over 40% of these cases, the request is accepted by Google and the relevant URL removed from Google’s search results.
These figures last week by Google brought out.
The “right to be forgotten ‘on the Internet was established by the European Court of Justice and is meant for people who do not want their name pops up at a particular search in popular search engines like Google.
By the way, already does the name suggests otherwise, who uses the ‘right to be forgotten’ and asks Google to exclude certain URLs does not have 100% certainty that that request is responded. Search engines like Google are not required to comply with a removal request.
