Nortel patents back of the hand made – Telegraaf.nl

The telecommunications company Nortel patents did in 2011 of the hand, are now being sold. The patents were originally picked up by Rockstar, a consortium consisting of several technology companies such as Sony, Microsoft and Apple

.

The patents were the In recent years used to sue manufacturers of Android devices. Among the patents are namely the rights to the use of key technologies in telecommunications and Apple wanted to use them in the war against Google. The latter, however, struck in November a settlement with Rockstar and thus the consortium seems to be superfluous.

The patents now come into the hands of RPX Clearinghouse. This will pay $ 900 million (approximately € 738 million) for the whole portfolio. In 2011, Rockstar still paid $ 4.5 billion (€ 3.69 billion). RPX has announced that it will sell licenses for patents under “reasonable conditions”.
