Dozens of shooting stars to see this weekend – NU.nl

This was reported by the Royal Dutch Society for Meteorology and Astronomy (KNVWS).

The stars rain from 20:00 probably see the whole evening and night throughout the country well.

Weeronline.nl think there is sufficient clear periods that night. Also be seen in the night from Sunday to Monday there are meteor showers, but because of the predicted rain chance is a lot smaller.

MeteoGroup reports that it continues clears it in the evening and the night free becomes clear. The moon still gives disruptive light, but it is also becoming less.

The shooting stars, which have nothing to do with real stars and meteors are actually belong to the Geminids meteor swarm. Every year the earth moves in December by the orbit of extinct comet Phaeton. Bits of grit and dust left behind by the comet, causing the falling stars.

According to Roy Keeris KNVWS of the meteors to see the best in a dark place. “On a clear day I expect to see a good show average there are thirty to forty stars per hour..”
