Video The chance that they are going to prepare the latest Jamie Oliver recipe in the rainforest is not very big, but chimps can cook if they had cooking utensils at hand. Research shows that the monkeys are smart enough to cook.

Scientists at Harvard and Yale took two years nine experiments on chimpanzees in the Democratic Republic of Congo. They concluded that chimpanzees have enough insight to plan when something is done and to stop the devices in which they can prepare food. Moreover, they have enough patience to wait until food is cooked rather than raw eat, the researchers write in the scientific journal Proceedings of the Royal Society.

The monkeys were given during the investigations which she potatoes could do in two boxes: the food in one container was substituted by investigators for cooked food and nothing was done with the food in the other bin

Once the chimpanzees in the eye were the food in. one tray was boiled, they chose, in most cases, for to do food in said tray and to wait until they were boiled potatoes. They also stopped any pieces of wood in the container that supposedly cooked things, what the researchers to suggest that the apes understand that only food can be cooked.

Unable to fire
The reason that monkeys do not really cook, it has mostly to do with that they can not fire. They are also steal the researchers worried that other apes their food.

The research shows that the ancestors of modern humans probably learned to cook soon after they had invented how to make fire.
