DALFSEN – Registration for the public excavation in Eastern Dalfsen was launched. Young and old can participate in this project on July 7 and 8 at the archeological excavations in Eastern Dalfsen.
The municipality Dalfsen cordially invites its residents to attend the archaeological dig in Oriental Dalfsen. On the spot where a month ago the great cemetery of the Funnel Beaker Culture in Northwest Europe was found, now comes the shovel into the ground. This time there are remnants expected from the middle ages.
The public wants to dig the town’s history in an accessible manner to make visible and tangible for everyone. Literally, because the past is nowhere closer than in the opgravingsput! At the same time, the project offers an insight into the craft of archeology, which is vital for gathering historical knowledge.
Participants can compete in amateur archaeologists of the Archaeological Working Group Netherlands (AWN), which is organizing a two-week excavation. The excavation is accompanied by research ADC ArcheoProjecten and heritage consulting firm The Missing Link.
Enthusiasts can sign up for a morning or afternoon session on 7 and July 8. After a brief explanation about the excavation and the history of the location, participants will tutored the pit. There is space for 10 people per session, so act fast! The minimum age of participants 14 years.
For children between 7 and 14 have the possibility to participate on Wednesday July 8th at the excavation. There is room for up to 20 children.
