Most Canadian smokers are between 19 and 29 years. They hardly use the services available. Therefore, researchers developed the interactive online platform ‘Break It Off’ and an app. Were smokers with information materials on the website to get started, and then share their experiences on video with others. Users could also share their website via the stop status on Facebook. The free app was to assist users in the difficult moments.
Participants were followed for three months. The Break It Off program succeeded 32 percent of smokers to stabbing on a cigarette at least thirty days. That worked only 14 percent of smokers who were dependent on the telephone helpline.
Because of the success is the subsidy for Break It Off campaign extended for five years.
