Spotify sees turnover rise by 80 percent – NU.nl

The Swedish company nevertheless turned last year an operating loss of 184.5 million euros, compared with 165.1 million euros in 2014, according to financial documents from the Luxembourg Commercial Register.

Spotify had at the end of 2015 89 million active users, of which 28 million are paying users. The company is active in around 60 countries.

The company earned last year a total of 1.74 billion subscriptions, compared with 978.57 million euros a year earlier. To ads the company earned in 2015 195.84 million. Last year that amount was still at 98.82 million.

The music streaming service also paid an amount of 1.63 billion euros in royalties, 85 percent more than a year earlier. That means 84 percent of the revenues of the company are paid back to the music industry
