Mobile Netflix viewers can choose whether they want to save data, or just want to look at higher quality.
Netflix announced previously that users would gain more control over the video quality on mobile connections. Today following the update that it is possible: good news for people with small and people with large data bundle
Four hours do with a gigabyte
default continues. Netflix namely doing what it always did: streaming over mobile connections with a maximum bit rate of 600 kilobits per second. That equates to watch about three hours per gigabyte of data, according to Netflix the best balance between data use and video quality.
Those who like to consume less data, can now opt for low quality videos, good for four hours video per gigabyte. High quality Netflix consume a gigabyte per hour. With the option Unlimited is the quality as high as over a Wi-Fi connection, useful for those who have a massive data collection.
The three institutions can be found under the heading App settings in the Netflix menu Android and iOS.
