Success! NASA gave extra room for space station – Scientias.nl

The International Space Station is a room richer now NASA yet still managed to blow up an inflatable space module.

This weekend, NASA made a second attempt to BEAM ( Bigelow Expandable Activity Module ) to blow. BEAM is an inflatable space module attached since April at the ISS, but had not yet assumed its full extent. To that end, the module still had to be inflated. And last weekend is so successful. The ISS is the inflated space module it became at a stroke eight percent

Second attempt
fact was blowing BEAM scheduled for last Thursday.. But then something went wrong: NASA increased the pressure in the space module, but then did not increase as planned, the diameter and length of the module. Therefore, NASA broke off the inflation of the space module. was decided after analyzing the first attempt to venture last Saturday another attempt. And successfully so.

Leak
the coming days, we will examine whether BEAM not leaking. A week later, will put an astronaut than first set foot in the inflatable space module

It is intended that BEAM two years remain attached to the ISS.. During that period, we will examine whether the inflatable space module resists include the extreme temperatures in space, space debris and radiation from the sun. BEAM If that test well by state, it is not inconceivable that inflatable space modules will be used more often. Because they are very few roads it was launched relatively cheap
