Fiat provides Chrysler 100 cars Google self driving car – Dutch IT channel

Google Fiat and Chrysler will work together to test self-propelled cars. The carmaker will supply a hundred cars to Alphabet, the parent company of the technology giant. It comes to hybrid minivans Chrysler Pacifica, which will adjust engineers from Chrysler on Google’s technology.

The American IT bedirjf has been looking for collaborations with the automotive industry around the technology self-propelled vehicles, which the company seven years is developing. Chrysler has long been considered a potential partner because the company itself is not really engaged in the development of such technology, unlike other major players.

Direct collaboration with car manufacturer
“It’s the first time we work directly with a car manufacturer to create our cars,” said Google. The vehicles will only be used for testing purposes only and will not be sold. Through the cooperation will double the number of vehicles that Google used to test the technology. Google currently uses seventy cars from Lexus, which has adapted the company itself. For the tests with Chrysler cars go together teams from both companies closely. The first test of Chrysler vehicles before the end of the year expected on the job.

Since 2009, have made self-propelled cars Google 2.4 million kilometers. Tests are currently being conducted in Mountain View, California, where the headquarters of Alphabet is located, but also in Austin (Texas), Kirkland (Washington) and Phoenix (Arizona).
