Paul Verhoeven grabs next Golden Palm with French film Elle – NU.nl

The Cannes Film Festival was held this year for the 65th time in the southern French coastal town. A total of 22 films entered the competition in the official selection of the festival.

Verhoeven drama with Isabelle Huppert in the lead role was Saturday in world premiere and scored big for the Golden Palm, partly because it received a lot of international rave reviews.

The winning film the 79-year-old director Loach is about one a sixty handyman from Newcastle that needs if he does not want to lose his benefits back to work after a massive heart attack

Loach is the second Golden Palm:. exactly ten years ago he won the prize with his film Le vent se lève.

the award for Best director went to Chistian Mungiu for his film Graduation and Olivier Assayas for his film Personal Shopper .

Jaclyn Jose received for her role in Ma’Rasa the award for Best Actress. The award for best actor went to Shahab Hosseini for his role in The Salesman .

Dutch success was there Saturday for director Dudok de Wit, who with his film The Red Turtle a special jury prize was awarded from the program section Un Certain Regard
