So-called HTTP status codes provide Internet users with information when a page is unreachable. The best known is probably code 404, which is displayed when a page can be found.
The new code 451 stands for ‘legal obstakes’, and should give a clearer explanation when sites are blocked by the government. Previously, in such cases, often the code 403 (trespassing).
The initiative for the new error message comes from Tim Bray, one of the co-authors of the XML Web standard. Bray submitted his proposal three years ago, around the time that there are many versions of Pirate Bay were gebokkeerd in the United KINGDOM OF.
The number 451 is a nod to the book Fahrenheit 451 , a dystopian science fiction novel by American author Ray Bradbury.
