The hover boards are self-balancing two-wheeled vehicles, similar to a Segway without handlebars.
Amazon has removed several variants of the hover boards from the shop. Hoverboard manufacturer Swagway received an email from Amazon, which asked for security documents. Swagway could deliver such documents and sells its products still on Amazon.
The shop also has this message supposedly sent to other manufacturers. Products whose safety can not be demonstrated, would be removed from the store.
Batteries
Amazon asked specifically to the safety standards for chargers and batteries in the hover boards.
Some hoverboards would have flown recently on fire, which was caused by battery problems.
Forbidden
In the Netherlands, the use of the hover boards on public roads not allowed. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Environment can not approve the vehicle.
In the UK, the hover boards are banned from sidewalks and roads. As this week was more of a teenager on a hoverboard hit, in which the victim died on the spot
