The Galaxy S7 has a screen of 5.1 inches and the S7 Edge with a size of 5.5 inch slightly larger, as Samsung showed Sunday at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
The company showed off the phone for the first time during a press conference which partly took place in virtual reality. Thousands of people attended the event all got their own Gear VR glasses to see the unveiling.
Screen
The two new smartphones have a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels. S7 Edge has a screen that is curved at the sides, while the S7 is completely flat. Both smartphones are waterproof.
They are again made of glass and aluminum. The phones are slightly thicker than the previous generation, but the camera lens protrudes less far from the case.
The new Samsung smartphones both appear on March 11 in the Netherlands. The S6 than 699 euros will cost, and should be paid more for the S7 Edge 100.

Camera
at the back of the phones have a camera that takes pictures at a resolution of 12 megapixels. That’s less than the predecessors, but with a larger aperture and larger pixels, the quality is dramatically improved according to Samsung, especially in the dark.
In addition, a new system is used to focus, making this is happening a lot faster than the S6.
the devices run on a new Exynos chip from Samsung itself, which contains eight cores of up to 2.3GHz. There’s 4GB of RAM (1 GB more than the S6) and standard 32 GB of storage

Battery
There is again room for a MicroSD card in the S7 and S7 Edge. Last year Samsung just deleted the possibility of extending the oplsagruimte of its flagships.
The new devices have a larger battery than the previous generation. The S7 has a battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh (compared to 2550 mAh in S6) and the S7 Edge even has space for 3,600 mAh (was where the bigger S6 Edge + a 3,000 mAh).
The new phones can be recharged wirelessly again. According to Samsung, it will go faster than the previous generation. S7 and S7 Edge do not use the new USB-C standard, because the virtual reality glasses Gear VR then would not work anymore.
Through software has not changed much, but the display of the S7 and S7 Edge can be left on continuously, for example to display the time or weather. There are also several new features for playing games, such as the ability to easily create screenshots and videos of the game.
Gear 360
Along with the S7 and S7 Edge presented Samsung Gear 360, a new 360-degree camera from Samsung. The Gear 360 includes two wide-angle cameras of 15 megapixels each

At the top is a shutter button, a small display, but the camera can also be controlled via a connected smartphone.
After shooting pictures or videos can be combined at the Samsung new smartphone into one image 360 degrees. Now only the device works with S7 and S6 smartphones, but in the future, Samsung will provide support for more Android devices and iPhones.
