The Chinese manufacturers want to increase the range and appeal to more customers, the Korean site writes ETNews on Monday. Vivo, Huawei and Xiaomi smartphones come with a curved screen.
The three Chinese manufacturers have signed a contract for the supply of special screens. The XPlay5 Vivo probably has such a screen.
Last week popped up an image of the XPlay5 with a screen that is curved on both sides. The smartphone is seen as a counterpart to the Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge.
The XPlay5 is the first smartphone with 6GB RAM. The device has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, like the S7 Edge in some markets.
Samsung is the only manufacturer that makes curved screens for smartphones on a large scale. Last year, Samsung had previously signed a contract with BlackBerry for the delivery of the screens.
One reason for Samsung to sell the scenes is that stagnant sales of its own smartphones, while the Chinese smartphone makers are growing rapidly.
