A new processor from Qualcomm may just ensure that smart watches will soon be a lot smaller and a full battery last longer than now.
Most of the existing Android Wear smart watches running on a Snapdragon 400, while it was actually intended for use in smartphones and tablets. Qualcomm has now announced a new processor that it is designed specifically for smart watches:. Snapdragon Wear 2100
The Snapdragon Wear in 2100 would be 25 percent more fuel efficient and therefore require less battery on your smart watch. Also, the new processor is 30 percent smaller than the Snapdragon 400, which fit into thinner and smaller smart watches.
LG-wearable with Snapdragon Wear 2100
According to Qualcomm, the Snapdragon Wear 2100 is already available for manufacturers. So it should not take long before smart watches enter the market with this processor. For example, LG would later this year will release at least one new wearable with the Snapdragon Wear 2100
Qualcomm has also developed three new processors for smartphones and tablets in the middle:. The octa-core Snapdragon 625 and Snapdragon 435 and the quad-core Snapdragon 425. Probably, the first devices with these processors in stores end of 2016.
