Samsung presents Exynos 7 Octa 7870 for midrange phones – Techzine

Samsung presented a new mobile chip which is designed for midrange smartphones that will later this year. The Exynos 7 Octa 7870 is the first chip for not high-end smartphones produced in 14 nanometers. This makes these devices will be much more energy efficient.

New smartphone technologies are always used in the more expensive high-end handsets, then we have to wait until the technology is also available for the midrange and finally the budget devices. Last year, Samsung has put a major step forward in performance and battery life of its own Exynos chips. These were first produced in 14 nanometers which let a lot of advantages.

This Sunday Samsung presents its new flagship, the Galaxy S7, and there will again be a 14 nanometer chip worry again with new technologies.


 

 The company also has a new 14 nanometer chip presented for midrange handsets, the Exynos 7 Octa 7870, this chip will soon be in several midrange units of the South Korean manufacturer into production later this year and will make his debut. That means that the mid-range handsets from Samsung are going to get a big performance boost, but also a lot to be energy efficient.

Samsung will this quite apart from the competition, because they are currently not able for midrange devices provide such good chips. The Exynos 7 Octa 7870 has at least eight Cortex-A53 cores with a clock speed of 1.6 GHz.
