Smartphones can use built-in SIM cards from June – NU.nl

The new standard will be officially introduced in June, reports industry association GSMA. Several major providers support the standard, including the parent company of T-Mobile, Deutsche Telekom and Vodafone.

Among tech companies built SIM card is also supported. Include Apple, Samsung, Huawei, LG, Microsoft and Sony support the initiative of the GSMA.

The integrated SIM cards can be configured remotely to switch to another provider. Users can still change as usual operator, but do not have to use small, physical SIM cards.

Apple uses integrated SIM cards in recent iPads, which makes it possible to select a specific provider abroad. The iPhone is here not taken yet
