ISS astronauts eat home-grown lettuce – Telegraaf.nl

HOUSTON –

On the menu for astronauts aboard the International Space Station are normally no vegetables, but now they can eat home-grown lettuce. US astronaut Scott Kelly sowed lettuce on July 8 and Monday it was harvest time, reported the US space agency NASA

There are more often vegetables grown on board the space station, but they were always research back to earth. Now that research has shown that vegetables are suitable for consumption, the astronauts may have committed the teeth.

Perhaps the astronauts Monday extra hungry, for they started their day with a spacewalk as many as six hours . The two Russian astronauts were at an altitude of 320 kilometers above the earth clean the windows of the ISS and installed new equipment
