Dutch leading international astronomers – Telegraaf.nl

HONOLULU –

The Dutch astronomer Ewine of Dishoeckstraat will lead the international organization for her field. She was Friday elected president of the International Astronomical Union. That happened at a conference in Hawaii. Dishoeckstraat of the union from 2018 until 2021 under her care

Dishoeckstraat studies the chemistry in the universe. She is a celebrity in her work. She is the most cited molecular astrophysicist in the world. Of Dishoeckstraat is linked to the Observatory of the University of Leiden and the Dutch Research School for Astronomy.

Dishoeckstraat received the Spinoza Prize in 2000, the ‘Dutch Nobel Prize’. In 2012 she received the award Academy Professor of the Royal Dutch Academy of Sciences. It is a sum of one million Euro related to scientific work.

The International Astronomical Union should promote astronomy. The union is also about the names in the universe, such as Stars and mountains on other planets. The organization had four times before a Dutch president
