MacBook Pro teardown reveals a lot of irreplaceable parts iPhoned.nl

The MacBook Pro will be almost impossible to attempt to repair, a teardown of the laptop. The model with Touch Bar features a large number of irreplaceable parts.

Recently was the MacBook Pro without the Touch Bar is already disassembled, but have now the men of iFixit also the new model with the touchscreenbalk gotten hold. In their MacBook Pro 2016 teardown, they offer a comprehensive look at the inside of Apple’s latest product.

What is especially striking: the laptop is virtually not attempt to repair. That’s because Apple almost all components soldered to each other. The SSD, the memory and the processor are all immediately on the system board soldered. That means that if you have a defective hard drive or memory problems almost the entire laptop must be replaced. Also for the biggest techie, it is not possible to take more power or storage space to add.

Also on the Touch Bar has iFixit little positive to report in the field of making repairs. The company indicates that this breaks as soon as you get there also but a little to pry. Because the power button is now a part of the touchscreenbalk, it is suddenly a lot more expensive to have a broken power button replaced. For scratches, you don’t have to be afraid: a part of the bar used sapphire glass, which is virtually impossible to scratch.

The trackpad below the keyboard is fortunately relatively easy to replace. This is attached with ten small screws that are by users themselves can be removed. This is the easiest to replace part of the new Macbook, according to iFixit.

Eventually, may those little extras to no avail: iFixit gives the new MacBook Pro 2016, a score of 1 out of 10 for making repairs. The new laptops are from the end of this month available in the Netherlands.
