Dutchman comes with a ground-breaking theory of gravity – NOS

The Dutch scientist Erik Verlinde has a new theory published about the gravity, that a breakthrough might mean in physics. In his theory debunks the UvA scientist the existence of dark matter.

Astronomers struggle for decades with a convincing explanation for dark matter. In their observations, they see that there is in galaxies more gravity than on the basis of the number of stars is to be expected. Until now, it was in the knowledge that difference is attributed to the dark matter, the galaxies together would hold.

According to Verlinde, is that additional dark matter is not needed at all. In his new theory, he says that he, the anomalous movements of stars can be calculate, without the matter involved. It would be the first time that scientists have a theory which fits the observations of astronomers.
