Apple, the second place on the smartphone market lost. BBK has for the first time more smartphones sold than the iPhone producer. BBK is the parent company of many Chinese brands, including Oppo, Vivo and OnePlus.
BBK market share of 12 per cent
That makes analistenbureau Garnter known on his website. It counts Oppo and BBK separate, but both brands are part of the same group of BBK. Thus, the Chinese company 12 percent of the market share in the hands. Apple has in the third quarter of 2016, and 11.5 percent of the market share. That is for Apple the lowest since the first quarter of 2009. The American technologieproducent sold three million less iPhones than the same quarter last year.
Samsung is struggling, but is still proudly at the top
Samsung with 19.2 percent market share is still proudly at the top of the list. The South Korean manufacturer has provided a lot compared to last year at 23.6 percent), partly due to the Note 7 fiasco. These figures are estimated, because Samsung themselves have no numbers to publish. Just outside the top 3 is Huawei. That sold in Q3 of 2016, with almost 32.5 million phones. That is five million more than in the same quarter in 2015.
Huawei wants Apple to catch up
It is, therefore, that Huawei the hole with Apple getting smaller and smaller. Huawei itself will perhaps not be surprised. Recently told Huawei-director Richard Yu namely that the Chinese company Apple within two years wants to catch up. "Step by step we can win the trust and loyalty of customers.
