‘A lot of important websites are often poorly accessible’ – NU.nl

That concludes Stichting Accessibility on basis of research of a hundred commonly used for Dutch websites.

half of all the sites that the researchers examine names, turned out to be not with a keyboard. For the blind is disastrous.

The government is doing relatively well. Accessibility examined sixteen sectors. The best scoring information sites of municipalities, the national Government, and volksvertegenwoordigingen as the Second Room.

Energy companies, webshops, and news sites score the least. Mobile apps belonging to the websites investigated are on average moderately accessible.

The foundation called the results troubling. “By the digitalization of society, people are increasingly depending on the internet to independently be able to participate in the society. People with disabilities are likely a victim of it.”

According to the association of research left to do, it is not hard to make websites accessible for everyone to make, as there, directly in the design and development are taken into account.

In July of this year in the Netherlands the UN convention on the rights of persons with disabilities entered into force. This treaty should provide for accessibility of websites.
