Compared to mean more than a year earlier an increase of five percentage points, reports Telecompaper Friday. When the messaging app was installed in fact 87 percent of the Dutch units, or 9.4 million Dutch smartphones.
Whatapp is owned by Facebook. In second and third place in the ranking of most popular messaging apps are two applications from the same company; Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
The general Facebook app installed installed on 9 million Dutch smartphones, or 74 percent of the smartphones. That’s a 2 percentage point increase compared to last year.
Facebook Messenger is in third place. The messaging app is installed on Dutch 7 million phones, or 57 percent. That is an increase of 4 percentage points.
Music Apps
The market researcher also notes that music apps do well in the Netherlands. In February of this year, almost half of the Dutch users installed a music app, compared to 41 percent a year earlier.
Music Apps are according to the research more popular among men than women, and are mainly used by young people.
Average music apps are used sixteen days per month. That is remarkably less than a year earlier, while the number of installations is just higher than last year
