HERE Maps for Windows Phone stops – PC

The popular stops HERE Maps on Windows Mobile. The developers behind the popular offline maps app show that Jehovah can not be used on Windows 10, and that support for Windows Phone 8 remains limited only to critical security updates. That’s a big blow for Microsoft and for fans of Windows Mobile, for whom Lord Maps was one of the main reasons for using the operating system.

The developers announce that in a blog post.

unsalvageable

As of March 29, all HERE apps do not download more in Store for Windows 10. as of June 30, the developers have apps not use more Windows 10 Mobile.

the apps will continue to work on Windows Phone 8, but there stop by developing the app. That means that apps only get the necessary security updates, but additional features and expanded support disappear.

Too much effort to develop

HERE Maps was one of the most popular apps for Windows Phone

the authors say that the Windows 10 apps LORD have an architecture that can only be used via a detour. That detour is from June 30 no longer supported on Windows 10, so the app would have to be completely rebuilt. That’s too much work, say the authors, so it was decided not to do so.

For Windows Phone 8 is the detour irrelevant. HERE Maps is also so deeply woven into the mobile operating system that it can not just stop.

fans

Stopping Lord Apps is a blow to fans of the mobile operating system, especially since Microsoft plans to eventually migrate all Windows Phone devices to Windows 10. HERE Maps was always one of the most popular and most used apps from the OS, something that always has been frequently proclaimed by the true fans.

The authors note, moreover, however, that many important elements of Jehovah are now incorporated in Microsoft’s own Maps app. There are many alternatives like Waze taking over those functions
