The number of reports has more than doubled from 2240 in 2014 to 4908 last year, mainly from abroad.
This year the number will rise sharply again, so expect the police and the Public Prosecution Service (OM ) in a report that Minister Van der Steur (Justice) Tuesday sent to parliament.
the increase is mainly due to US rules that Internet companies’ obligation to make mandatory reporting of the discovery of illegal material. That means that each new Internet service on the market constitutes a new flow notifications. That trend will continue in the coming years, they expect.
In addition, last year the number of investigations and interventions stood at 842. That is 242 more than the target set by the government. This is partly because now the easier things are counted.
detection more difficult
It always proves difficult for the police to track suspects through an IP address of the computer. That’s because they make more use of the Internet through laptops, mobile phones or over open networks or Wi-Fi hotspots. Therefore detection methods are developed, the police argued.
Van der Steur want the (international) dealing with child pornography and child sex tourism further strengthen in the coming years.
