Spotify will stop supporting Windows Phone 8.1 and Windows 10 Mobile – PC

Spotify stop support for Windows Mobile. The music streaming service does not provide more updates to the app for Windows 8.1, and can not yet say whether there will ever be a Windows 10 Mobile app.

That tell the developers MSPowerUser.com. The Windows app Spotify still can still be used, but will not receive updates. That includes security updates, so it may not be very smart to continue using the app.

Windows 10 app

The authors also say that it is not clear whether there is a Windows 10 app is released. This is remarkable, since the release of the operating system is imminent and Spotify is one of the most popular apps of the moment. The fact that the authors not working on an app says a lot.

Low share

Spotify does not say why exactly stop the support, but probably has to do with the fact the operating system greatly loses market share. Last quarter were sold only 4.5 million Lumia phones, and the operating system but can not compete with alternatives such as Android and iOS.
