Letters are still blue, red, yellow and green. The colors are also just still in the familiar order. But that is pretty much said the new logo of Google, presented tonight is quite different from the old. Since 1999, the logo underwent no such drastic change.

You can call the new logo Feel free to childlike. Google itself says that the font used, ‘Product Sans’ should resemble the simple print in a school book. The colors are, moreover, or the same, but they are somewhat lighter.

The development of the logo over the years:

A major rationale for the change -. “And yes, it will not be our last” – is that Google and logo was ever meant for browsers on desktops. But now the company has numerous sub-brands and Google is a household name also the much smaller screens of smartphones, tablets and smart watches. Which then Google also has a more diverse role. Thus, changes in the ‘big’ logo also the ‘g’ with you know perhaps of the aforementioned devices. That will not be a lowercase letter, but capitalized, and is no longer white, but the familiar Google colors.

But anyway, this tells Google itself in a blog post about the change.

The change also has to do with the fact that since three weeks Alphabet, the new mother company. Google will soon be one of its components. The new logo of Google is very similar in style to that of Alphabet.

More on the process behind the new logo.

Of course, we talk on Twitter pressure on the new logo (ugly / beautiful), which makes sense when you consider that few logos are where people look around the world at such a frequency against. More interestingly, perhaps the discussion is about the “smiling e ‘in the new logo. Or who do not too much like the “smiling e ‘in the logo of Heineken.

Were it not for the’ smiling e ‘since 1999 in the Google logo SAT. But perhaps he is now more by the new font.
