‘HBO depart, but Amazon comes to the Netherlands’ – NOS

It is a come and go of online video services in the Netherlands. HBO announced this week to stop offering movies and series, but Amazon seems to brood in the Dutch market. According to RTL director Bert Habets bought the company rights to films and series in the Netherlands are allowed to emit.

Amazon, one of the largest internet retailers in the world, is busy with the setting up of an online video service, Amazon Prime. The service already has 63 million paying members in the United States, and Amazon has the big names to the service bound. So launch the former presenters of Top Gear coming soon a new auto-program on the streaming service.

Also the head purchase of SBS confirms the opposite Nu.nl that Amazon on the Dutch market is active. According to Habets would be the introduction of Prime in the Netherlands can quickly be done: “The rights will go next year. So that will mean that they have concrete plans for a launch in the Netherlands,” he says tonight in the NTR program College Tour.

Netflix ceo Reed Hastings is out there to guest. He says the competition is welcome.
