Video calling on WhatsApp is 20 MB per minute of data – Computer Idea

The calling via WhatsApp consumes approximately 20 MB of data per minute. The new feature is since today available, so we assessed our data meter to see what is WhatsApp on 4G verstookt if you have a video conferencing setup.

WhatsApp introduced the videobelfunctie earlier today in a beta-function of the app. Later that feature for all other users are added.

With the calling verstook you an average of 20 megabytes per minute, or 1.2 gigabytes per hour.

please Note< / em>: this is still a beta-version of the function. It is possible that the position is still updated and the data usage at a lower point down. We are working with this article in that case.

Test

We calculated that by several times, one minute in to the video with the sound and the moving image, on both phones via 4G/LTE.

The first test:

second test:

Remarkably high data usage

The data usage is remarkably high for the video calling, especially because the image quality is far from good. It is in the app may not have the resolution to adjust, but that was often even over 4G under the 340p to diving.

Similar apps by which you can make video calls consume significantly less data. With Skype costs video conferencing is about 5 MB per minute (at low quality), with FaceTime is that even 3 or 4 MB.

Also notable is that the VoIP call through WhatsApp understand relatively little data costs. Thus consumption by around 250 KB per second.
