European privacywaakhonden want that WhatsApp immediately stops sharing information about users with parent company Facebook.
That leaves the Article 29 working Group, consisting of the European privacywaakhonden, today know. The Dutch Authority for Personal data is also part of the Article 29 working Group.
Serious concerns
The Article 29 working party has “serious objections” because existing users were not aware of the sharing of data with Facebook, at the time that they have the app installed. The privacywaakhonden want to now that WhatsApp stops sharing of data, until the company in writing the answer given to their questions.
WhatsApp says in a response to Bloomberg to cooperate with the investigation and answer the questions. In november, the European privacyautoriteiten together to discuss the matter.
