Motorola spent three years in the Moto ShatterShield technology, the company said Friday. Moto X Force is the first smartphone equipped with them.
The Shattershield consists of five layers. The top layer protects against scratches from everyday use. Underneath is a layer that protects against break or shatter.
Below are two pressure-sensitive layers. At the very bottom is a flexible AMOLED screen that can absorb shock better.
Research by Motorola shows that each two second break a smartphone screen. More than one in four smartphone owners has a broken phone screen.
The Moto X Force has a 5.4 inch screen with a pixel density of 540 pixels per inch and a camera of 21 megapixels. The smartphone has a octacore processor, 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage.
