Nokia daughter Withings presents Steel HR analog smartwatch – GSM Helpdesk Netherlands

Withings came in April this year still big in the news when it was announced that the company would be acquired by Nokia. The acquisition has been completed in June and today Withings has under the banner of Nokia at the IFA in Berlin presented a special new smartwatch: Stalk HR

The Withings Steel HR looks like a normal watch and, like a normal watch an analog dial. The ingenuity, however, lies in a small round LCD screen behind the dial above the analog clock.



Registration of heart rate, activity and sleep patterns

This small screen is able to display various types of information, alerts and notifications the Withings Steel HR. The smart watch is at the rear equipped with a heartbeat sensor, and can thus record the heart rate in all circumstances.

Furthermore, the Steel HR able to count steps and registering distance traversed while walking, run and even swim. In addition, the watch also calculates the amount of calories burned. At night, the Withings Steel HR records the sleep rhythm and the user can subtly awaken by a silent vibrating alarm.



Special smartphone app

To the Withings Steel HR to use must be installed on the connected smartphone, the Withings Health Mate app properly. This app is available for both iOS (Apple) and Android smartphones. When the Withings Steel HR is connected to a smartphone, the watch also able to alert for example, incoming messages or phone calls via a display on the small screen and a vibration on the wrist.



Endurance 25 days

Unlike most smart watches, the Withings Steel HR thanks to its analog clock and very small LCD screen an endurance of up to 25 days. Most smart watches should present every day or every charge the day. The Withings Steel HR can be charged on a magnetic charging path that ensures that the Withings Steel HR makes good contact with the charger.



Pricing and Availability

the Withings Steel HR is available in two sizes: a small watch with a diameter of 36 mm and a slightly larger watch with a diameter of 40 mm. The small watch has watch straps 18 mm wide, the larger watch uses watch straps 20mm wide. Watch straps are interchangeable and all the usual watch straps in the market can be used on the Withings Steel HR. The small size Steel HR will cost 170 euros, the larger size will be a tenner more expensive. Both versions come in mid-October on the market.
