The E3 is in full swing and after Sony’s impressive conference we could not wait to start working with PlayStation VR. Our experiences with the PlayStation VR, the new controller and several indie titles read in the Sony PlayStation VR E3 hands-on!
After the press conference Sony has finally become known that from October 13 to get started with PlayStation VR for 399 euros. This is the price a lot lower than counterparts as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift, but the specifications of PlayStation VR are probably slightly lower. Time for us to see if you know anything about notes.
Lovely in the round pop
We start the session with Farpoint. A new first-person shooter set in space. We are on a lunar landscape with a futuristic assault rifle in hand, and we can actually see our own hands, arms and legs. Something which often is omitted in VR games.
The world is not graphic image clean, but more than good enough to make you feel immersed in a short time. Meanwhile, we have printed the new VR Aim Controller of Sony in the hands in the real world. The controller seemed at first a bit big, but it just feels really great when you’re holding an assault rifle in the virtual world.
Walking is done with the Aim Controller, but you can just extended look around or shoot it like a boss looking over your shoulder. Strange spider like creatures attack us, but do not stand a chance. We alternate between shotgun and rifle by moving like you one weapon does on your back and picks up another. The realism of movements makes for a good experience.
Once at the end boss is unfortunately the last session. The first impression of Farpoint and PlayStation VR are made. And oh what that good impression! As an indie title drop such work, how does that work with Triple A titles like Resident Evil 7 and Batman VR?
The war continues
the second game we go to work is Battlezone. Here you play the driver of the tank, which is sitting playing virtual reality! The controller is complete with the standard PlayStation controller so it looks a relaxed session. Nothing is less true, because driving a tank and mow down enemies is not easy.
The world of Battlezone is only very futuristic. It looks more like a simulation and empathy is therefore more difficult. Also because your example, no body sees sit in the tank. In the beginning ensures the speed of the tank for some nausea, but you happy soon get used to it while you’re mowing down all enemies.
Battlezone can not match the experience of Farpoint, but know a fine for an indie game dropping piece of work. It’s also nice to occasionally be able to play sitting VR instead of shaky stand on your feet in the real world as you walk in the virtual world. It remains a strange experience.
A short horror
With only a few minutes on the clock we start Here They Lie. A psychological horror game for virtual reality. You walk around in a sort of abandoned subway station with only a flashlight. This responds to the movements of your head, but you can also control the flashlight with the PlayStation 4 controller.
There are some horror moments are presented and a creepy guy with a pig’s head looks just a little to have much interest in us . The chills run right over your body when you suddenly sees his shadow for you (which means that he is! Behind you). Unfortunately, this also means the end of the session. The time is up
Sony PlayStation VR E3 hands-on. – A promising start
It will take a few months before the PlayStation VR appears on the market, but Sony knows even with this indie titles already put down a good job. It leaves us asking how cool behind the triple A titles from the press conference will be then. Sony PlayStation VR does at least not inferior to the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. The first impression is made.
