Today is a special day in the history of space: the New Horizons spacecraft reaches Pluto. For the first time we can expect detailed pictures of the farthest (dwarf) planet in our solar system!
The last few weeks have been exciting for anyone who is even slightly interested in space and astronomy. Slowly, were the photographs that the slowly awakening from its hibernation New Horizons by end detail. The goal came increasingly into view: Pluto. The planet a few years ago was downgraded to asteroid, but later again was considered dwarf planet was discovered by Clyde Tombaugh in 1930. He died in 1997 and the adventures of the spacecraft the size of a large refrigerator no longer allowed to participate. What exactly can we expect to pictures is still a surprise, but it is certain that Pluto is unlike any other planets in our solar system. It’s very cold, because the sun is at a record distance. Icy landscapes combined with fascinating geological forms will undoubtedly provide the necessary Oh’s and Ah’s. To stay abreast of this ultimate Plutodag it pays to keep these and this site properly monitored. Also nice is the simulator with which you kind of like a passenger travels with New Horizons; There is both a Mac and Windows version available
