PlayStation Now – Price, games and PC version – Eurogamer.nl

You have the last few months surely already seen passing the name PlayStation Now . The new service from Sony provides many new opportunities for gaming, but what is PlayStation Now really? We put the most important information here in a row.

Streaming Service

PlayStation Now is a streaming service that allows PlayStation 3 games on your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita and the PC (more on that later) can play. All kinds of games stored on the cloud (managed by Sony and Gaikai technology), and you can stream them at will. Compare it with Netflix, but for games.

It is important to note that the service is fully functional streaming. The games do not take up space on your hard drive, they are considered not installed on your console. An important consequence is that you always need to have an Internet connection (at least 5 Mbps) in order to use the service. When setting up the system, test the service or your Internet connection is fast enough.

What games?

PlayStation Now has a very wide range of games. Besides smaller gems such as Flower and Catherine, there are also classics like Ico and F.E.A.R. and a range of top titles like God of War games and Batman: Arkham games available. The service also receives regular updates, creating new games are available.

Sony CEO Eric Lempel gave earlier in an interview that Sony is investigating whether it PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 games via PlayStation Now offer. There is currently, however, not yet clear whether there will also be effective, and when this would be.

Subscription Prices

The service works with monthly subscriptions. For one month you pay 16.99 euros, but if you download the app you get a free trial period of 7 days. This period shall be automatically renewed at the end to a monthly subscription, so be on time to cancel if you do not have an extension. Remember, though, to keep on hand your credit card if you want to activate the service!

If you want to cancel your subscription to the service, you can do before the expiry of a period of 24 hours.

PC version

There is now also a PlayStation Now PC app. Thus, you can via your PC using the service, and thus PlayStation games on your PC. To do this you will need a PlayStation 4 controller, which you then connect with a USB cable to your PC. However, there is also a DualShock 4 Bluetooth dongle for whom Wireless wants to play

To use PlayStation Now on PC, there are the following system requirements:.

  • Windows 7, 8.1 or 10
  • 3.5 GHz Intel Core i3, AMD A10 3.8GHz or faster
  • 300 MB of storage or more, and up to 2 GB of internal memory
  • sound card and a free USB port
  • an Internet connection at a speed of 5 Mbps or higher

Availability

PlayStation Now in the UK has been a while available as an open beta. This marked the official start of the service in the Benelux. In North America and Britain, the service is available for more than a year.

For now, PlayStation Now just use the PlayStation 4 and PC. PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita get the service at a later date. However, it is not yet clear when this is.
