Klamer triathlete misses out on medal in Rio – NU.nl

The 25-year-old Klamer ended four years ago at the Games even as 36th in London. Last year at the European Games in Baku she grabbed a silver medal.

Klamer therefore belonged in Rio to the medal candidates, but a failed bill cost the Dutch a class ring.

The triathlete lost a lot of time at the last change. “I got it all out of my shoe and then it was successful, I felt that there was something in it, ” said the European champion in 2013 at the finish.

Klamer came after the 38.5 kilometer cycling through Rio de Janeiro as the second in the transition area, but only went as eighteenth, because she had to take off her shoe again. “I have no idea what it was.”

the American Gwen Jorgensen took the gold medal in Rio. She kept the defending champion Nicola Spirig for. the British Victoria Holland won the bronze.

good start

Klamer had a good start of the Olympic triathlon. She came after 1.5 km swim fourteenth out of the water. the Zimbabwe-born triathlete was part of a leading group of eighteen women.

During the 40 kilometers cycling the leaders stayed together. Klamer started in eighth the last part of the triathlon:. 10-kilometer run

She had moderate substitution and lost precious time with it. Klamer was not fast enough on her running shoes and had the connection with the favorites lost. After 2.5 kilometer run them came fifteenth place with 49 seconds behind the leaders Jorgensen and Spirig.

Klamer climbed while running still a few places, but they do not come near the medals. At two and a half minutes Jorgensen ended the Dutch tenth
